Editorial Policy
Standards for sourcing documentation, technical verification boundaries, and error corrections.
Documentation Source Standards
DeskSignal relies on published manufacturer documentation, engineering datasheets, user manuals, and technical schematics. To maintain accuracy, we classify specifications into distinct categories:
- Seller-Documented Specifications
- Metrics published directly by manufacturers, such as power output at stated impedance loads (e.g., milliwatts at 32Ω or 300Ω), DAC chipset models, dimension blueprints, and input/output configurations.
- Editorial Verification Inquiries
- Points where manufacturer marketing leaves ambiguities, such as unstated measurement loads, undocumented power supply brick specs, or unconfirmed chipset revisions across production batches.
Editorial Guardrails
Our editorial guidelines enforce specific constraints to ensure reliable guidance:
- No boutique pseudoscientific terminology: We do not use untestable claims or vague descriptors such as “micro-dynamics,” “veiled stages,” or “quantum warmth.”
- Contextual power ratings: Power figures must state the impedance load (e.g., @ 32Ω or @ 300Ω) rather than unqualified peak wattage numbers.
- Complete physical metrics: Footprint measurements must account for rear cable connectors and front potentiometer protrusions.
Correction Policy
Audio equipment hardware revisions, packaging changes, and spec sheet updates occur frequently. When a factual discrepancy, silent hardware revision, or outdated bundled power supply specification is identified:
- We verify the update against revised manufacturer technical documentation or direct schematics.
- We update the published article promptly to reflect current specifications.
- We note substantive corrections directly within the affected article to preserve record transparency.
